Lok Satta Party demands right to protest peacefully

Anti-liquor campaigner Mr. Sasi perumal has requested for permission to hold a one day token fast today in Valluvar kottam, demanding prohibition of liquor sales in the state. But he was denied permission to conduct the token fast and no valid reasons were given for the permission denial. Aggrieved by this decision, members of Lok Satta Party and Mathuvukku Ethirana Makkal Iyakkam protested in front of the assembly hall. Mr. Sasi perumal and Lok Satta Party secretary Mr. Palani Kumar were arrested for this protest.

Lok Satta Party insists that every citizen has the right to protest in a peaceful and democratic manner. The party condemns the police action of arresting citizens who are protesting in a peaceful manner.
