Tuesday, January 7th, 2014 @ 12:52PM
Lok Satta Party’s Chennai district president Mr. Kumar lead a protest today to stall the bus operation of Jabbar Travels for a few hours and sprayed black paint at the end of the protest.
Mr. Kumar in a media statement stated that Jabbar Travels has been operating buses in an illegal manner, which claimed 45 lives. Lok Satta Party has issued a deadline of one month to the Travels to provide compensation for the victims’ families. However there was no progress in the police investigation and no compensation was provided. The Transport Minister made use of the administrative setback due to the Telengana issue and ignored the victims’ families.
The Party has decided to involve in direct action and to stall the bus operations until justice is rendered to the affected families. Flash mob protests will be made in front of Jabbar travels. Dr. JP, who was arrested for protesting two days back, in a statement has requested passengers to register their protest by avoid travelling in Jabbar travels.
As a part of these protests, Jabbar travels bus meant to Bengaluru was stalled in Adyar Depot bus stand around 9:30 PM today. We distributed pamphlets to the passengers and requested them to avoid Jabbar travels. We sprayed black paint in the front glass pane to stall the bus. The passengers too supported us for our protests, though inconvenience was meted out to them.
