Wednesday, August 5th, 2015 @ 4:00PM
Loksatta Party leaders Mr. Palani kumar, Mr. Nagarajan and Mr. Selvaraj were arrested in the early hours of 4-August on false charges by Anupparpalayam police inspector. FIR was filed by 7 AM yesterday morning and they were taken to the magistrate’s house. On the way to the magistrate’s house, the police inspector asked them to give false statement to the magistrate. As Loksatta leaders refused to give such false statement they were taken back to the police station without producing them to the magistrate. The police hadn’t even shared the FIR inspite of so many requests from us.
They were produced to the magistrate by 2 pm and cases were filed on them under sections 151, 147, 7(1)a which are unbailable. The magistrate remanded them for 15 days without even paying heed to the plea of Loksatta leaders that they are innocent. Mr. Palani Kumar has started a hunger strike condemning the false charges against them. Mr. Palani is currently hospitalized in Coimbatore Government Hospital.
Loksatta Party state leaders along with general public are organizing an indefinite hunger strike in Tiruppur demanding the release of the innocent leaders.
